YOUTH SUMMER ENGLISH PROGRAMS

During the months of July and August, our school offers an exciting English program for teenage students, aged 13 to 18 years old. This fun-filled program is designed to offer young international and French-Canadian students a balanced measure of English language instruction and Canadian cultural experiences where their new language is put to use. Delivered by professional TESL Ontario Certified ESL teachers, the curriculum consists of 15 hours a week of classroom instruction and 15 or more hours of cultural activities on and off campus. A bi-weekly workshop component is also part of the curriculum, thus allowing students to work on guided self-directed projects in English. Students can choose to register for 4, 5, or 6 weeks.

Academic Curriculum

Based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks, our curriculum is carefully designed to offer students maximum language improvement within a short period of intensive practice and application. Although oral communication (Speaking and Listening) is the focus of our curriculum, practical applications of Grammar, Reading and Writing skills will take place within classroom work, thus integrating all skills within lesson plans and workshops.

Language Workshops

The language workshops are an opportunity for informal instruction and group work. Although students will be guided initially, the goal of each workshop is to allow self-directed initiative in the creation of projects like a "Summer Memories Book" a "Newsletter" a "Video" and other projects resulting in memorable moments of their stay in Canada.

Activities

Our extra-curricular activities are designed to offer students a perfect blend of cultural, social and recreational experiences during the students' stay in Canada. The educational rationale of each activity is to encourage participation and language use in real life situations with native speakers from North America. Examples of planned activities are "adventures in Niagara Falls", "Baseball Game in Toronto", "Canadian Wilderness Camping", "Canada's Wonderland Amusement Park", "Sports Activities", and much more....

Homestay Accommodation Program

While studying in our programs, students have the option of living in a safe and friendly environment with an English-speaking family in the community. By staying with and becoming a part of the family, students are able to further practice the language and experience family life in Ontario, Canada. Our families are carefully selected through a screening process and are experienced in hosting students for local international language programs. see Homestay Accommodation section for more details.
